Student Rents Versus Student Loans

For those students not fortunate enough to live within travelling distance of their universities, the costs of renting are starting to cost double that of the actual course. In a recent survey for this website, we found that the actual costs of renting was now in the region of £109 per week for average university accommodation. Some were actually paying to £409 per week for Halls of residence in some London venues.

One of the biggest factors in determining accommodation prices around universities seems to be linked to the types of students those universities appealed to. Many London universities appealing to students from all around the world, accommodation is not usually within the reach of most UK students.

Whilst accommodation costs and not on the political agenda most politicians to worry about. It is starting to become a real issue for social migration inside the United Kingdom. With one student group now claiming that there are no-go areas for UK students with in some UK universities.

It is unlikely that any politicians don't call for caps on accommodation. But that doesn't negate the fact that something does need to be done to help students travel to their specialist universities at affordable prices. The irony is of course that whilst many protests take place over the costs of the Student Loan from the Government. None are planned for the costs of accomodation, which is often more.
